Franco Diaferia was born in 1952 in Corato, Bari, Italy. He moved to the Bronx, NYC in May of 1963. Franco's family was always in the restaurant business, (90 plus years). Franco's first restaurant that he owned with family was the IL Boschetto located in the Bronx. Later he opened the Gianfranco Pizza Pasta Cafe in Bedford Hills, NY.
It was at this location that Franco began making his own breads, starting with a focaccia barese along with his own sauces. Once he was successful with those items he began making homemade gourmet pasta, plain pasta to spinach pasta, tomato basil pasta; you name it, Franco can make it. After successfully operating restaurants Franco moved into the wholesale food supply business servicing accounts in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. His homemade breads were part of the inventory supplied.
In 2006 Franco relocated to Easley, SC, opening Fratelli's Pizza & Pasta restaurant in 2009. The original restaurant was located on Calhoun Memorial Hwy (U.S. Hwy 123) next to the old McDonalds. The restaurant is now located not far from the original location, currently being on Calhoun Memorial Hwy (Hwy 123) just north of the Hwy 123/Hwy 93 split. Franco continues to provide excellent authentic Italian cuisine in a comfortable setting, along with his own sauces, breads and bagels.
We invite you to come and enjoy a great meal with Franco, family and friends.
